Un guitariste de Springsteen fustige "les idiots odieux" qui soutiennent le BDS

Alors que les rumeurs sur la venue de Bruce Springsteen à Tel Aviv cet été battent son plein, lui et son groupe E Street ont fait l’objet de critiques de la part des partisans au boycott d’Israël.

Lundi, le guitariste du groupe, Steven Van Zandt – qui est également connu pour son rôle de gangster dans la série « The Sopranos », produite par HBO – a répondu avec son style habituellement direct. Dans une série de tweets, il a qualifié les boycotteurs d’Israël d’ « idiots désagréables politiquement ignorants » et a suggéré à l’un d’entre eux : « Va te faire F ».

Van Zandt a subi les foudres de la twittosphère pour le spectacle non confirmé. Et il n’est pas le seul parmi les autres membres du groupe.

Le bassiste Garry Tallent a été chahuté par les Twittos. Et l’autoproclamé anti-sioniste Stanley Cohen, qui a plus de 20 000 followers sur Twitter, s’en est pris au Boss lui-même, en février.

Le dernier tollé relatif au BDS a émergé de manière inattendue lors d’une conversation sur Twitter apparemment sans rapport.

Dimanche, un fan s’est lamenté auprès de Van Zandt au sujet de l’annulation de Springsteen d’un spectacle en Caroline du Nord le mois dernier en opposition à la loi « bathroom » de l’Etat, récemment promulguée – qui cible les personnes transgenres en exigeant que l’on inscrive sur le certificat de naissance d’une personne l’utilisation des toilettes selon son sexe.

Un autre utilisateur Twitter a ensuite accusé Van Zandt de visiter d’autres pays, « qui font bien pire ».

Après des débats sur ce qui fait que l’Amérique est si formidable, et sur le fait que l’appeler Amérique soit correct ou non, la dispute est intervenue sur la question du boycott. Un utilisateur a demandé pourquoi, si Van Zandt tolérait les défauts d’autres pays, il s’était impliqué dans le mouvement contre l’apartheid sud-africain avec la chanson de protestation de 1985 « Sun City ». Van Zadnt a dit que cette chanson portait également sur les États-Unis.

Ensuite, un certain Patrick – dont la bio Twitter décrit : « J’ai un problème, les droits de l’Homme pour le peuple de Palestine » – a intégré Israël dans le débat.
